French Postcard with Roses

"The rose speaks of
love silently, in a language
known only to the heart."

~ Author Unknown ~

Flowers have the ability to
speak for us when we have no
words, lift our spirits in times
of sadness, remind us about how
the little things in life matter.

Pastel Roses & French Ephemera

"And I will make thee beds of roses,
and a thousand fragrant posies."

~ Christopher Marlowe ~

I love both versions of these roses...
the vibrant hues of the roses at the top,
and the soft blush of those below.

Torn Paper Tags

“Stories never really
end. Even if the books like
to pretend they do. Stories
always go on. They don't
end on the last page, any
more than they begin
on the first page.”

~ Cornelia Funke ~

Hope you like these neutral tags.
I created them with layers of a
torn book page as the background.

A Painted Rose...

"There is nothing
more difficult for a
truly creative painter than
to paint a rose, because
before he can do so
he has first to forget
all the roses that were
ever painted."

~ Henri Matisse ~

Catherine Klein was the artist who painted
these roses.  Her work has been popular for
over a century... and is it any wonder why?

Roses of Yesterday

“I feel as if I had opened
a book and found roses of
yesterday sweet & fragrant,
between its leaves.”

~ L.M. Montgomery ~

Isn't it always a nice surprise finding
pressed flowers or leaves in an old book?

Mason Jar clip art & Kids Printable

 There are 2 images of
Mason jars on The Graphics Fairy
site. I had an idea for an activity with
my kids, but needed a canning jar
with no lid. So made this version:

I printed out the page below,
gave it to my kids, and asked what
they would use to fill it.

My daughter said buttons and flowers,
and my son said fireflies, but then those
would escape since there's no lid.

We're going to have fun with this today!

How would you use it?

The Sweetest Angel

"The golden moments
in the stream of life
rush past us and we see
nothing but sand; the
angels come to visit us,
and we only know them
when they are gone."

 ~ George Elliot ~

What was written on the
back of the original card
tugged at my heartstrings:

"To Helen from Grandma"

My Grandma Leasure's
name was Helen. She
was an angel to me.

Daffodils & Spring Blossoms

"Lord, make us
mindful of the little
things that grow &
blossom in these days
to make the world
beautiful for us."

~ W.E.B. Du Bois ~

My daughter and I decorated
this area of our porch, for fun.
We looked around the house. New or
old... complete your display with
a few daffodils & spring blossoms.

I'm linking up with Angie for
Knick of Time Tuesday

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!
