Belles Roses & Cartes Postales

"The rose speaks of love silently,
in a language known only to the heart."

~ Author Unknown ~

I love how flowers have the ability to
speak for us when we have no words,
lift our spirits in times of sadness,
remind us about how the little things
in life really do matter...

Above, you'll find 2 rose images
that are are different than what
I usually offer: they're in PNG format!

Such fine china...

“It's a wise husband who will buy his wife
such fine china that she won't trust him to wash the dishes”

~ Unknown author ~
1961 edition of Reader's Digest

Isn't that a great quote?  I couldn't figure out
who actually said it... probably a wise husband!

I loved these turn of the century images
of fine china, and thought you might too...
wouldn't they make pretty coasters?

I've reduced the size of the graphics
for 2 printables... have fun with them!

A few suggestions:
gift tags, labels for homemade preserves,
stickers, envelope seals, tags for tea bags...

they begin on the first page.”

A Painted Rose...

"There is nothing more difficult for a truly
creative painter than to paint a rose, because
before he can do so he has first to forget
all the roses that were ever painted."

~ Henri Matisse ~

Catherine Klein is the original artist who painted these
beautiful peach roses.  Her work has been popular for more
than a century... and is it any wonder why?

Mason Jar clip art & Kids Printable

There are 2 vintage images of Mason jars
offered on The Graphics Fairy's site.
 Here are the original versions:

I'd admired them many times, and so I
knew exactly where to look when I needed
a Mason jar graphic.  Only... I didn't realize
both versions had lids.
I had an idea for an art project for my kids,
and needed a canning jar graphic without a lid.
So, here's what I came up with:
Here's my art project idea:
It's very simple and open-ended,
which is good for encouraging a child's creativity.
I printed out the page below, gave it to my kids,
and asked what they would use to fill it.
My daughter said buttons and flowers,
and my son said fireflies... and of course those
would escape since there's no lid...
Oh well!
We're going to have fun with this today!

So... how would you use this Mason jar graphic?
I'd love to hear your ideas!

Thanks for stopping by,
and have a great day!

The Sweetest Angel

"The golden moments
in the stream of life rush past us and
we see nothing but sand; the angels come
to visit us, and we only know them
when they are gone."

 ~ George Elliot ~

I found this little angel on The Graphics Fairy's site.
Immediately I fell in love with her sweet innocence...
but it was what was written on the back of the
original card that tugged at my heartstrings:

"To Helen from Grandma"

My Grandma Leasure's name
was Helen... and she was an angel to me.
We shared many "golden moments,"
and although she's been gone
for many years now... I'm not sad.
I can smile because I know someday
we'll see each other again!
Here are links to the free sources I used
to make these sweetest angel tags:

Daffodils & Dainty Blossoms

"Lord, make us
of the little things that
grow & blossom
in these days
to make the world
beautiful for us."

~ W.E.B. Du Bois ~

What do you think of this little display?
My daughter and I set it up on the porch...
just for fun!

Look at what you have around the house - new
or old, and combine it with a few daffodils
& dainty blossoms.

You'll have a pretty display in no time!

I'm linking up with Angie for
Knick of Time Tuesday
