Autumn's Queen Chrysanthemum

Ah! She is not a "Summer
Friend," she stays when all the rest
have flown, and left us flowerless
and alone; no singing birds, or blooms
to lend their brightness to the autumn
haze, 'tis she who cheers the dreary
days; 'Tis joy to know so sweet a friend;
No fairer flower blooms 'neath the sun
Than autumn's queen Chrysanthemum.

Blackberries & Autumn leaves

"How beautifully leaves
grow old. How full of light and
color are their last days."

~ John Burroughs ~

Just in case you need a pretty way
to leave a quick note...

or if you'd like a little gift card envelope:

"September Morning"

When in these golden hours
The day dawns honey-bright
And down we stroll the misty paths
Slow ripening in the light
Of second flush, of sodden roses,
Of dewy maple leaves,
We pluck the meadow of autumn lilies
And berries from the trees.
We sit in the wonder of too-soft days,
Listening for summer's parting sighs,
And drink in the sweetness
of the new-mown morning
And lie under whippoorwill skies.
