A Flourishing Garden

"The gardens that make us
happiest flourish because
we have taken the time
to make sure they feed our souls and fill a special place
in our lives."

"Sometimes you have
to really think about
what you want in your
garden... once the beds
are laid out and the
rose bushes planted."

~ Lindley Karstens ~

I combined 3 elements to
create these garden-themed,
printable tags. Two feature an
I kept the others simple with
portions of an ornament.
The ornament reminded me
of both stylized branches
and metalwork from
something like a garden
gate. The background is
a receipt from Berry Seed
 Company.

Under the Winter Snow

"Every gardener knows
that under the cloak of winter
lies a miracle... a seed waiting
to sprout, a bulb opening
to the light, a bud straining
to unfurl. And the anticipation
nurtures our dream."

Garden of the Heart

"Let us, then, plant
with diligence and care
the garden of the soil,
but let us, with far deeper
earnestness, tend the
garden of our hearts."

1902 Music & Pink Roses

Because

Because you come to me with naught save love,
And hold my hand and lift mine eyes above,
A wider world of hope and joy I see,
Because you come to me.

Because you speak to me in accents sweet,
I find the roses waking round my feet,
And I am led through tears and joy to thee,
Because you speak to me.

Because God made thee mine,
I'll cherish thee, through light and darkness,
Through all time to be, And pray His love
May make our love divine,
Because God made thee mine.

~ Edward Teschemacher ~

Fair Perfect Rose

As a flower in the garden
Bending toward the sun,
Unfolds it's tiny petals,
One, by one, by one...
So faith expands it's beauty
Until at last it grows
Into life's lasting flower...
The heart's fair perfect rose.

Crowned with Roses

Clear was the heaven
and blue, and May, with her cap
crowned with roses, stood in her
holiday dress in the fields, and
the wind and the brooklet
murmured gladness & peace,
God's-peace!

~ Henry W. Longfellow ~

The roses are from
the cover of a book
featuring Longfellow's poetry, from my
collection. I chose to leave the worn areas.
These roses aged beautifully!

Be Grateful for...

Be grateful for the kindly friends that walk along your way;
Be grateful for the skies of blue that smile from day to day;
Be grateful for the health you own, the work you find to do,
For round about you there are men less fortunate than you.

Be grateful for the growing trees, the roses soon to bloom,
The tenderness of kindly hearts that shared your days of gloom;

Be grateful for the morning dew, the grass beneath your feet,
The soft caresses of your babes and all their laughter sweet.

Acquire the grateful habit, learn to see how blest you are,
How much there is to gladden life, how little life to mar!
And what if rain shall fall today and you with grief are sad;
Be grateful that you can recall the joys that you have had.

~ Edgar Guest ~

Rewards of the simple life...

"To find the universal elements
enough; to find the air and the
water exhilarating; to be refreshed by
a morning walk or an evening saunter;
to be thrilled by the stars at night;
to be elated over a bird’s nest or
a wildflower in spring: these are some
of the rewards of the simple life."
