The Birds

"God loved the birds
and invented trees.
Man loved the birds
and invented cages."

~ Jacques Deval ~

This 1870's bird & cloche image
turned out to look a little on
the spooky side, don't you think?
I didn't intend for it to turn out
that way when I made it, several
months ago.  Thought some of you
might find a use for it this time of year.

I will be sharing the image on
the other side of the 1903 ephemera
soon... hope you'll stop back again!

September Moon

"Summer ends, and
Autumn comesand he who
would have it otherwise would
have high tide always and
full moon every night."

~ Hal Borland ~

Tonight, the moon is shining
through the black silhouette of
maple leaves...and I feel comforted.
cannot imagine life without
moonlight, can you?

You Love the Roses...

You love the roses... so do
I. I wish the sky would rain
down roses, as they rain from
off the shaken bush. Why will
it not? Then all the valley would
be pink and white and soft to
tread on. They would fall as
light as feathers, smelling sweet;
and it would be like sleeping
and like waking, all at once!

~ George Eliot ~

Isn't that poem beautiful?
Don't be fooled by the name...
George Eliot was a pen name
for Mary Anne Evans, an
Englishwoman.  She is considered
by many to be one of the finest
authors of the Victorian era.

It's the life in your years."
