Color of Winter

"The color of springtime is
in the flowers; the color of winter
is in the imagination."

- Terri Guillemets -

These gift card envelopes were made
based on a design first shared in 2012.
This time I went the extra step for you
and made 4 ready-to-print designs.

Plaid background - made by layering
stripes in 2 shades of slate gray:

Gift card envelope - how to make:
After cutting out, fold using the edge of your gift card, credit card, ruler, etc. as a guide. Glue with glue stick - read below for how I do it:

Place a piece of cardboard from a cereal box (about the size of a gift card) inside the envelope before you glue (so you don't glue the inside of the envelope together, and so it's not too tight to get a gift card inside when finished).

Here are the free graphics
& sources used in my artwork:

Frances Brundage created
beautiful artwork, including 3 girls
holding "Christmas Roses" under an
umbrella on a snowy day.

*The Old Design Shop*

Loved the cozy feeling
of this moonlit village scene.

*Shadowhouse Creations*

This texture overlay
helped soften the plaid.

Our Jack O'Lantern...

"It's cold and we are sleepy,
the air is cold and still.
Our jack o'lantern grins at us
Upon the window sill..."

~ Unknown Author ~
My 9 year old daughter created this original artwork!
I transformed her sketch into digital images to share...
so from both of us ~ please enjoy!
Above, printable bookmarks or tags in brown and orange hues.
They look great printed on cream-colored card stock.

Below, printable bookmarks or tags for kids
(or kids at heart!) to color... this was my daughter's idea.
Below, an 8.5" x 11" printable sheet of journal or note cards in 2 sizes.
I love the texture and shading on this jack o'lantern.

Here are the free graphics
& sources used in these images:

their colors speak,
say what words fail of."

1902 Music & Pink Roses

Because

Because you come to me with naught save love,
And hold my hand and lift mine eyes above,
A wider world of hope and joy I see,
Because you come to me.

Because you speak to me in accents sweet,
I find the roses waking round my feet,
And I am led through tears and joy to thee,
Because you speak to me.

Because God made thee mine, I'll cherish thee,
Through light and darkness, through all time to be,
And pray His love may make our love divine,
Because God made thee mine.

~ Edward Teschemacher ~

The "Because" sheet music title page (copyright 1902)
as well as rose postcard are images from my personal
collection of ephemera.  Feel free to incorporate them
into your artwork!

October Pumpkins...

Bonfires and pumpkins,
Leaves sailing down...
October is red
And golden and brown.

Unknown Author ~

~ Printable pumpkin note papers ~

My daughter had a party at school,
so I put together 25 little bags of candy.
We added a pumpkin image to each,
because my daughter thought everyone
should have a pumpkin to color...

The printable I used is below:

The pumpkin clip art is my original artwork.  I also used
the aged background from an image on the Old Design Shop
in my lined notepaper.  Thanks, Julie!

October's Party ~ Clip Art

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came...
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

~ George Cooper ~

I made the 2 printable papers above for my kids
to color & cut out.  We all had fun with it!  I've also
included the individual clip art leaves for you.
Below are sources I based some of my clip art on:

Ivy leaf
Laurel leaf
Maple leaf
Oak leaf
Oval leaf

It's the same texture I used to create Printable Chalkboard tags, labels, and more!
I also recently used this wooden frame
on printable daisy stationery.

Have fun creating
